The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival is proud to announce the 2012 Festival “Popcorn Awards” which were presented at the Filmmaker Award Luncheon on Friday, October 5, 2012.
Winning documentaries are as follows: David Ponce Award for Best of the Festival: Fame High Directed by Scott Hamilton Kennedy, Best Short Documentary: Future Learning , Directed by Eli Akira Kaufman, Best Student Documentary: Sebastian, Directed by Katie Valovcin and Dan Duran, Best Environmental Documentary: Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives – The Environmental Impact of War Directed by Alice Day and Lincoln Day, Best Feature Documentary: Fast Talk, Directed by Debra Tolchinsky, Best Human Spirit Documentary: Fambul Tok, Directed by Sara Terry, Best International Documentary: Ameer Got His Gun, Directed by Naomi Levari, Best Ohio Documentary: The Restorers – They Were All Volunteers, Directed by Adam White, Best Cinematography: The Lost Bird Project, Directed by Deborah Dickson, Best Social Awareness Documentary: Beating Justice – The Martin Lee Anderson Story, Directed by Andy Opel, Emerging Filmmaker : Love and Other Anxieties, Directed by Lyda Kuth
Best of the Festival Award Winner, Scott Hamilton Kennedy commented: "Thank you to the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and to all the audience members who came out to see FAME HIGH. The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival was founded in 2010 with a mission to give a voice to talented filmmakers and their stories. The Festival takes place at venues in and around the picturesque century village of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and in its third year set new attendance records, attracting an audience from all over the US. "Love and Other Anxieties" director Lyda Kuth accepted the Emerging Filmmaker Award saying: “I want to express my thanks for such a wonderful experience at the Chagrin Documentary Festival. The spirit in which it was founded is conveyed in the way you value filmmakers and the work they are doing.”
Dates for the 2013 Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and the Call for Entries will be announced in early November, 2012.
