Join New York's activist entertainers at the conclusion of Black Friday/Buy Nothing day weekend.
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 15, 2012
After a summer and fall touring the "Stop Shopping" gospel in Austria, London, Slovenia, Minnesota and Burning man — the 35 voice troupe returns to the Highline Ballroom in New York City for their annual Thanksgiving show. This year's theme: "The People's Apocalypse! — There is climate change in our social change" refers to the book of the same title to-be launched this month by publisher OR Books.
The opposition to the Spectra Pipeline — the proposed entry point at Gansevoort Pier is just 3 blocks from the Highline Ballroom — will be an issue in the comedy routines, sermons and songs presented by Rev billy and the choir.
Rev Billy's recent political actions have concentrated on JPMorgan Chase — a top financier of CO2 emissions worldwide. Choir members have carried tree roots, cat-tails (in order to create lobby swamps) and river stones into bank lobbies across America and the world. "Singing and praying resists bank-caused climate change," says the Rev.
This year's Highline show will focus on the cross-section between eco-activism and social activism and will be the only major Holiday show for the Stop Shopping Choir.
