Trial attorney James Crosby, who chairs Klinedinst's Complex Litigation and Co-Counsel practice groups, has launched a new campaign to become a director of the SDCBA. Crosby, who formerly served as President of San Diego's North County Bar Association, is aiming to foster and improve communication between the SDCBA and its members, and help support local courts facing significant cuts in funding. Voting, which opens today to SDCBA members, runs through November 9, 2012.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (PRWEB) October 15, 2012
James D. Crosby, Shareholder in Klinedinst's San Diego office, has launched his candidacy to join the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA).
The SDCBA, founded in 1899, is the region's oldest and largest law-related organization. The voice for San Diego's diverse legal community, the SDCBA aims to support and inform the county's lawyers, as well as the public and the community.
Mr. Crosby, an experienced trial attorney who chairs the firm's Complex Litigation and Co-Counsel practice groups, is no stranger to service in the local legal community. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the SDCBA's Civil Litigation section, and has served on the SDCBA's Communications committee since 2011. He also previously served on the SDCBA's respected Legal Ethics Committee (LEC) from 1992-1993.
Other local legal groups have also benefitted from Mr. Crosby's service. He previously served as President of the North County Bar Association (BANSDC), and served on the boards of BANSDC and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. He also has served as trustee and President of the San Diego Law Library, which helps provide access to justice for all county residents. He currently serves as Trustee for the Law Library Justice Foundation, which helped fund the San Diego Law Library's major renovation last year.
In his candidate statement posted on the SDCBA website, Mr. Crosby acknowledges the challenges reduced court funding will have in San Diego. As Director, Mr. Crosby would work to rally support to challenge court underfunding at the state level, and help provide assistance to courts at the local level. An avid writer and speaker on technology in the legal profession, Mr. Crosby is also committed to further enhancing the SDCBA's communications with both attorneys and the general public, particularly in social media and other media platforms.
“Jim will make an excellent addition to the San Diego County Bar Association’s Board of Directors,” stated John Klinedinst, CEO and Founder of Klinedinst PC. “His fresh ideas, his 29 years of contacts, and his record of leadership will greatly benefit the SDCBA, as well as the San Diego community at large.”
Voting for the San Diego County Bar Association 2013 Board of Directors Elections is now open until November 9, 2012 at 5:00pm PST. All attorney members of the SDCBA maintaining active status with the State Bar of California are eligible to vote.
