From Nov. 5 through Nov. 9, history brought to life at Pacific Northwest Museum with 16 schools, 25 veterans and more than 150 artifacts and aircrafts
McMinnville, OR (PRWEB) October 19, 2012
Together with Remembering America’s Heroes, Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum will host the first ever Living History Week from Nov. 5 through Nov. 9. More than 25 of our nation’s veterans are involved with Living History Week and will share their stories with youth in the community.
Living History Week includes the following activities throughout each day of the program:
- Speaker sessions, where small pairings of veterans speak to classrooms of students about their experiences
- Luncheon with students and veterans
- Impressive museum experience where students get to view military memorabilia and artifact collectors
Each day will culminate with an Assembly of Honor, resembling a USO Show, which includes performances by students and professional performers, words of inspiration and special recognition of our veterans.
Additionally, on the evening of Monday, Nov. 5, Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum will host a dinner event honoring prisoners of war.
Living History Week was developed based on Living History Day, which was the country’s largest and most comprehensive school program honoring veterans. To expand upon Living History Day’s educational opportunities, the event was this year extended to a week.
Sixteen schools, colleges and student programs from the region have committed to participating in the event this year, including:
- McMinnville High School
- Newberg High School
- Dayton High School
- Gervais High School
- Yamhill-Carlton High School

- Roosevelt High School
- Jefferson High School
- David Douglas High School
- Horizon Christian High School
- North Salem JROTC
