In an effort to promote bicycle commuting, Bike Walk Connecticut and CTTransit team up to sponsor a breakfast meeting to provide advice and encouragement to bicycle commuters.

Commuter bike manufacturer Linus Bike commented on the recent Bike to Work program in Hartford, Connecticut. Reflecting a trend in urban areas, Hartford, Connecticut is doing its part to promote the idea of using a commuter bike to get to work. In an effort to build some interest in the idea, Bike Walk Connecticut and CTTransit have teamed up to sponsor a breakfast where bicycle commuters can learn about safety rules and connect with others in the community of existing bicycle commuters.
According to an article published on their website, Bike Walk Connecticut is, “dedicated to making bicycling and walking safe, feasible and attractive for a healthier, cleaner Connecticut.”
The Commissioner of Connecticut’s Department of Transportation Mr. Jim Redeker commented further on the issue, quoted on the Bike Walk Connecticut site as saying, “Bicycling is an increasingly important mode of transportation in Connecticut. It’s an option that more and more of us are considering. It’s ‘green,’ healthy and smart – not to mention fun.”
Linus Bike representative China Reevers commented, “Here at Linus Bike, we are all striving to create a greener earth and reducing our carbon footprints by way of bicycling. The green initiative is one that creates a sustainable ecosystem for our children. We love the idea that the city of Hartford would take such initiative in fostering such an event as Bike to Work. It is wonderful that the initiative includes both important safety advice and strives to nurture the commuter bicycling community. That feeling of community, camaraderie, and healthy living is what the bicycling community is all about. Hopefully other cities take the cue and start sponsoring their own events.”
