International model Rick Genest (aka Zombie Boy) has resolved a dispute with Twentieth Century FoxTelevision, the producer of the television series “American Horror Story,” over the use of tattoo artwork similar to his for a scene in the pilot episode of the series.
“For complete clarity, I was not approached by Fox to license what I consider to be the use of my likeness or my copyrighted body art in ‘American Horror Story,’” states Genest. “However, I understand that there was no intent to connect me with the character in their show and I am pleased that I have come to a resolution of this matter with Fox.”
The specific settlement cannot be disclosed.
“Rick Genest has become a unique international brand,” says Colin Singer, Managing Partner of RickGenest.com Entertainment Inc. “The commercial interest in his persona continues to grow and we take the unauthorized use of his artistic imagery seriously.”
Genest burst onto the scene with his unique look in Lady Gaga’s smash “Born This Way” music video, and continues to make a name for himself both domestically & internationally with his unique look. Earlier this year, he became the first male spokesperson for L’Oreal to promote its Dermablend line of cosmetic products. He was also recently involved in the commercial success for the relaunch of Paris-based Mugler Men’s fashion line.
In addition to endorsements, Genest is an actor as well. He has a cameo role in the upcoming feature “47Ronin,” starring Keanu Reeves (Universal).
Genest was represented by attorneys Richard Dermer (RAM Management – Attorneys At Law) as well as Dorothy Weber (Shukat, Arrow, Hafer, Weber and Herbsman in New York) and Mathieu Bouchard (Irving Mitchell Kalichman in Montreal).
