Dr. Jeffrey Richmond is now accepting new patients and will be practicing at the 21st Century Oncology radiation treatment centers from Sun City to Casa Grande, Ariz.
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 05, 2012
21st Century Oncology – the nation’s premier cancer treatment network and largest radiation therapy provider – announces the addition of a new physician in Central Arizona. We welcome Jeffrey Richmond, M.D., FACRO, a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist and Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology, who will be treating patients at 21st Century Oncology’s locations throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
With a broad medical knowledge base, Dr. Richmond has proficiency and experience in treating all cancer types. He previously cared for patients in the Valley in private practice, held a faculty position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan between 2008 and 2010, and most recently completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
A leader in the field, Dr. Richmond has been published in major cancer journals and has given speeches in cancer management at national and international meetings, such as invited lectures at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, the University of Arizona, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
He is accomplished in the latest radiation oncology techniques—familiar with all forms of top technology including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) of the brain and spine, and brachytherapy. During his recent experience at the University of Arizona, he worked at The Arizona Cancer Center – one of the country’s leading cancer research and care centers and one of only a few National Cancer Institute-designated facilities in the Southwest – where he was at the Supportive Care Clinic caring for patients in a holistic manner.
“We are proud to announce this new addition to our Arizona practices,” says Dr. James Marsh, one of the lead Radiation Oncologists with 21st Century Oncology in the Phoenix area. “Dr. Richmond will be an asset to our organization through his strong background in radiation therapy and palliative care. We know he is well equipped to serve the West Valley population with his expertise.”
Dr. Richmond has excellent communication skills and works closely with referring physicians, along with patients and their family, to deliver state-of-the-art cancer care in an inclusive and compassionate manner. Following more than 20 years of experience practicing the most up-to-date radiation oncology in the Valley, Dr. Richmond now brings, not only that knowledge, but also compassion and skillfulness to 21st Century Oncology.
Dr. Richmond notes that, “Teamwork in cancer care is key. And, I am committed to applying a focus toward delivering the highest quality, integrative care as part of this well-respected group.”
Dr. Richmond received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. Following his internship at Northwestern University’s McGraw Medical Center, he completed his residency and was appointed Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Richmond’s research endeavors and clinical presentations focus on radiation oncology, palliate radiation therapy, along with oncologic hospice care.
He has won honors for his discussions on cancer management over the years, including recognition from the Michigan Society of Radiation Oncology, as well as the Award for Best Presentation as a Resident, the Tumor Board Award for Excellence in Teaching by Mesa General Hospital, and was conferred fellowship status by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). He is a part of numerous professional organizations including the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Dr. Jeffrey Richmond is now accepting new patients and will be practicing at the 21st Century Oncology radiation treatment centers from Sun City to Casa Grande.
