System Fabric Works (SFW) hires new CEO, launches new product and aligns business to focus on vertically integrated solutions over RDMA.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) October 29, 2012
System Fabric Works, Inc. (SFW) announces that Kevin J. Moran has joined the company as CEO & President following the departure of Robert Pearson to Cray, Inc.
SFW is continuing its unique focus on RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) systems and infrastructure as an integration company emphasizing open source software solutions and industry standard hardware. This focus delivers to the data center fabric technologies and system architectures that provide up to 80-90% efficiency and reduction in CPU cycles for data movement, approximately 50% reduction in energy and greater than 10x performance improvement in applications.
An example of this new direction is the recent announcement of a partnership with Calxeda, Inc. and the release of the SystemFabricCore. This ARM® Cortex™-A9 server-based on the Calxeda EnergyCore™ SOC (System on a Chip), is a self contained, highly extensible, multi-node cluster with integral high- speed interconnect and storage within a standard 2U rack mount enclosure. Available up to 48 SOC components delivered on 12 Calxeda EnergyCard platforms, the FabriCore draws less than 300 watts for a fully populated 48 node 2U system.
In addition, SFW continues to upgrade its industry leading SystemFabricStor storage products with Sandy Bridge processors, PCIe-Gen3 I/O components and a selection of rotating and solid state disks. SystemFabricStor now supports both 56/Gbps FDR InfiniBand and 40Gbs RDMA over Ethernet and is primarily targeted at applications requiring data recording and retrieval rates greater than 6 Gigabytes per second.
This focus on systems integration with RDMA is the next logical step for SFW. For more than 10 years, SFW has been working with manufacturers and end users providing development and deployment of RDMA based technologies into their enterprise platforms and IT environments.
Now SFW is uniquely positioned to embark on the next stage of its strategic evolution in partnering with those same enterprises by delivering best of breed, vertically integrated RDMA solutions that increase computing efficiency, speed up I/O, increase performance and reduce electric power consumption for Technical Computing, Private Cloud and Analytic Applications..
