For over 500 years, the Mona Lisa has captivated countless generations. Master illusionist Ivan Amodei seeks to uncover the mystery behind the world's most enigmatic painting and debunk its ongoing controversy.
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2012
In 2010 Italy's National Committee for Cultural Heritage revealed that Leonardo Da Vinci left secret numbers and letters contained in the eyes of the Mona Lisa, which are only visible through high-resolution magnification.
More recently, the so-called "Isleworth Mona Lisa" has returned to prominence in the media. This portrait, depicting the same woman as the Mona Lisa (Lisa del Giacondo) in the same pose but with significant differences, was unveiled to the public just last month. The portrait's authenticity is hotly contested, with some claiming it to be an earlier portrait painted by Da Vinci himself.
It is this type of continued worldwide fascination which has inspired Illusionist Ivan Amodei to delve deeper into the matter.
“I felt there was more to the story and wanted to look at the deeply psychological aspects of this great masterpiece. With the findings of these secret letters and numbers I felt they would reveal much more then what was on the surface and give us insight into the unspoken allure of the Mona Lisa and I was right.” Stated Amodei.
He certainly had a rich history to draw from. Author Dan Brown exploited this mythology for his millions-selling The Da Vinci Code book which was adapted into a successful movie.
“My goal was to separate fact from fiction and to bring to life the real reason this mysterious painting has captivated us for so long.” remarks Amodei.
This illusion will be showcased in Amodei's one man show "Intimate Illusions" now in it's secound year at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills California. This 90-minute presentation set in Mr. Amodei's 65-seat European salon combines original magic and live music in a luxurious setting. The show has been called "Spectacular" by BroadwayWorld and "Legendary" by L.A. Confidential magazine. Shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings.
Amodei has entertained such Hollywood luminaries as Larry David, Ashton Kutcher, Mike Myers, Nicolas Cage, and Jim Carrey. He has earned a reputation as an illusionist to the stars. He was voted Best Magician by People’s Choice Award and has garnered multiple awards from such organizations as the International Brotherhood of Magicians and The Society of American Magicians. Among other accolades. Mr. Amodei was recently honored for "his outstanding contributions to the field of illusion and magic" by the Beverly Hills City Council and the Mayor of Beverly Hills.
