Winona, MN (PRWEB) November 01, 2012

Saint Mary’s University is pleased to announce it has been included on the Princeton Review’s 2013 list of “Best Midwestern Colleges,” one of only 153 schools to receive this recognition. In addition, the university was named one of the top universities in the Midwest by Forbes in the magazine’s annual college rankings.

To make the Princeton Review list, Saint Mary’s met the company’s standards for excellence within the region. Institutions were then rated on academics, admissions selectivity, financial aid, campus safety, quality of life and green initiatives. Students also participated in surveys anonymously. In their comments, they specifically mentioned the university’s "tight-knit community that focuses on growing in mind, body, and spirit," classes that are “meaningful and worthwhile,” and “very helpful and knowledgeable” professors who are “truly for the students.” One student rave, "Saint Mary's offers students more than an education; this school gives students a home away from home."

These rankings are especially gratifying as they come during the centennial celebrations of the university’s founding. For 100 years, Saint Mary’s has demonstrated its commitment a high-quality, innovative and accessible higher education. Most recently that commitment has been illustrated through career-focused online master’s degree programs in Project Management, Human Resource Management and Organizational Leadership. Today, a Saint Mary’s education is available to students around the country and the world, as well as on the go, thanks to the integration of the latest iPad technology into the online learning platform.

The Forbes rankings were based on several criteria important to prospective students: quality of teaching, great career prospects, high graduation rates and low debt levels.
