A Bolton business woman has been shortlisted for an award at the Forward Ladies’ Women in Business Awards. Michelle Barrett of Credit Claims has been placed on the shortlist for the Home Based category.
Michelle, 41, has battled against personal loss to propel her business to dizzying new heights whilst caring for five young boys.
In May last year, Michelle’s sister Lesley Ann died suddenly from a blood clot at the age of 34. Lesley Ann was the single mother of three young boys and the guardianship fell to Michelle.
Despite the added responsibility and already caring for her own two boys; Michelle re-doubled her efforts to maximise the success of her business venture whilst remaining a pillar of strength for her family.
In 2008 Michelle founded Credit Claims Ltd with business partner Ajaz Khan to help consumers who have been mistreated by the UK’s major banks and financial institutions. In the past 12 months, the venture has almost doubled its workload and output.
The company has grown from the original two person workforce to now employ 14 staff members in Bolton.
Working from home has allowed Operations Director Michelle to successfully juggle the demands of a busy professional life and caring for her family.
Michelle said: “It is a complete privilege to have shortlisted for such an award. It demonstrates that it is possible to flourish as a working mum if you have the support around you.”
The award winning Credit Claims has become a leading provider of financial claims services in the North West. This success is demonstrated by back-to-back Consumer Excellence commendations in the Bolton and Bury Business Awards in 2011 and 2012.
