Polysep Chemicals announces that it has received USDA Letter of no objection for the use of its proprietary HyperChlor product in poultry processing facilities. HyperChlor is a controlled release citric acid technology designed to improve the existing pathogen control programs of poultry processing facilities.
HyperChlor was designed to improve upon the traditional use of citric acid used for pH control in poultry chiller systems said Jason Holt HyperChlor product manager at PolySep. Understanding how difficult and critical pH control is for chlorinated systems led us to think outside the box said Holt. Increasing the viscosity of citric acid provided an alternative means for applying and controlling pH but most importantly provided the ability to target the release of hypochlorus acid (free chlorine) around the bird. HyperChlor technology will assist processing facilities to further reduce campylobacter and salmonella in their finished product said Holt. Many facilities have implemented expensive, peracetic acid programs due to pH and control issues associated with chlorine. HyperChlor has the ability to improve the lower cost chlorine programs and offer better microbial control than PAA.
