Young entrepreneur Anna Bishop, a talented 17 year old art student from Norwich, was overjoyed yesterday when she heard she’d been chosen as the winner of a competition run by entrepreneurial children’s author, Mark Hibbitts and his publisher Bookshaker.

Father-of-two, Mark, is author of the ‘Alfie Potts the Schoolboy Entrepreneur’ series of books, which are published by the small independent publisher Bookshaker. The books are designed to teach children about money, business, and other ‘life lessons’ they don’t always get at home or in school. As publication of book four in the ‘Alfie Potts’ series became imminent, Mark decided to launch a competition amongst local High Schools to find a new young illustrator to share in the profits.
Mark says, “My aim throughout the books is to inspire and encourage children to think like entrepreneurs… to find out what it is they love to do, and then turn it into a job or business. I believe that finding my new illustrator from within a local school, thus allowing them to pursue the thing they love to do, and make money from it too, fits in so well with the whole ‘young entrepreneur’ ethos.”
The competition was originally for the opportunity to illustrate book four onwards but the publisher was so impressed with the standard of Anna’s illustrations that they’ve committed to reissuing the original 3 books with new artwork too.
