As a result of advances in cooled infrared detector technology, engines are now available that deliver remarkable performance in a very small package.

Fairfield, NJ (PRWEB) November 08, 2012

Sofradir EC, Inc. demonstrated its new MiTIE-640LW Miniature Thermal Imaging Engine at the 2012 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington DC on October 22-24, 2012. Unique to the MiTIE engine is its cryogenically cooled infrared detector that operates in the long wave 8-10µm spectral band. As a result, the MiTIE-640LW delivers better imaging through obscurants such as fog, smoke and dust, excellent contrast even in cold environments, and reduced impact due to solar reflections.

Because of its compact size and versatile interface electronics, the MiTIE-640LW engine is ideal for easy integration into a wide range of electro-optical systems, including portable, mobile and fixed products, particularly those having size/weight/power restrictions. The MiTIE camera engine includes an integrated detector/dewar/cooler assembly (IDDCA) based on a 15 micron pitch, high performance Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) LW IR focal plane array. The unit produces both analog NTSC/PAL video as well as 14-bit digital data (Camera Link and HDMI). The camera control interface is either USB or Camera Link.
