La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp continues its commitment to the community with a special Thanksgiving morning event to benefit the hungry.

San Diego, Ca (PRWEB) November 09, 2012

JJ Brawley and his fitness boot camp, La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp, have developed a reputation for serving the community’s homeless and hungry. This Thanksgiving, Brawley and his staff are excited to be continuing that effort.

“We really wanted to do something significant for the homeless in our area this Thanksgiving,” says Brawley. “We didn’t want to just stay home and enjoy a feast, knowing that there would be many among the homeless who might go without a meal.”

At the same time, Brawley and his staff knew that staging something on Thanksgiving Day would be difficult, as most people are busy at home with their families. What they wanted to do was come up with an event that would both raise funds for the hungry and also benefit those who took part. What they came up with was a three-hour marathon workout on Thanksgiving morning.

“We felt that a morning event would be a lot easier for most people to attend and it also allows people to come in and get a great workout before they eat all of those Thanksgiving goodies,” says Brawley.

The fundraiser is being held on Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2012, from 8am to 11am. People can join the workout for as little as twenty minutes or stay for the entire session.

“We’re asking for a $20 donation to come participate in the work out, but you can stay as long as you like, get a great workout and have a lot of fun,” Brawley explains. “We’d love to see whole families come out, adults and children alike.”

Brawley and his fitness boot camp do a lot of community outreach and charity work with local kids, especially homeless kids, and Brawley thinks the Thanksgiving event could be a great way for more fortunate kids to help others during the holiday.

“It’ll be a great teaching moment for kids, reminding them that there are many people in our community who have no homes or don’t have enough to eat,” he says. “We won’t be lecturing about it or anything, but if the kids know they’re working out Thanksgiving Day to help feed others, that can have a great impact on their outlook.”

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the “Calories for Charity” event, whether they are members of the fitness boot camp or not. La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp is located at 8322 Parkway Drive, La Mesa, CA and the doors will open to the public at 8am.

“We’re expecting to have a great time and we’re looking forward to meeting a lot of new people,” says Brawley. “The more people who come, the more money we raise for some people in our community who desperately need our help.”
