Concordia Center for Public Policy Hosts State of the County Event

The Concordia Center for Public Policy (CPP) will host the “2012 Orange County Annual Report” Thursday, November 15th, presented by John M.W. Moorlach, Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors.

Chairman Moorlach will highlight the progress of the county in achieving its 2012 goals related to status of major county initiatives, fiscal health and steps being taken by the board to respond to our current economic condition as well as criminal justice realignment, labor negotiations and pension reform. Attendees will get a firsthand report on the issues and projects important to Orange County residents.

This is the second annual report by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to be hosted by the Concordia Center for Public Policy which is part of the Concordia University Irvine School of Business and Professional Studies. The center is characterized by its bi-partisan board representing public agencies, local elected officials and Democratic and Republican party leaders. During its inaugural year, it hosted programs on government reform, creating high performance government, using technology to improve government, pension and immigration reform and election analysis.

“The Concordia Center for Public Policy has become the place both Democrats and Republicans can come together to discuss and debate the many issues facing our county,” said Keith Curry, director of the CPP.

Chairman Moorlach graduated from California State University in Long Beach in 1977 and passed the C.P.A. exam in 1978. He completed his studies for the Certified Financial Planner designation in 1987. Prior to being elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2006, Moorlach served as the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector for nearly twelve years. He has been a voice on major fiscal issues facing the county, state, and the nation. Moorlach is a noted and respected long-time advocate for public employee pension reform and serves on the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility Advisory Board.
