All previous attendance records were topped at the 6th annual Hardscape North America (HNA) event held October 24-26 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY.
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) November 11, 2012
Charles A. McGrath, CAE, executive director of the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI), which produces the show, said the number of registrants increased by 43% over 2011, and participation in the Distributor Program held on October 24 increased by 12%. HNA education sessions attendance exceeded expectations. The show’s exhibit space increased by 8% over 2011, and the number of tradeshow-only visitors nearly doubled.
Fred Adams, Jr., chair of the HNA Steering Special Committee and president of Fred Adams Paving Company, commented, “I am excited that we exceeded our attendance goal. We wanted to increase attendance by 25%. Instead, we jumped 43% and we were up – across the board – in participation.”
Contractors at HNA and GIE+EXPO attended live HNA demonstrations, educational sessions and workshops to learn how to add hardscape construction to the services they provide their residential and commercial customers.
Two new programs were launched at HNA this year – the Contractor Executive Workshop and a two-day Advanced Residential Paver Installer Technician Course.
The Executive Workshop provided opportunities to hear best-practice advice on construction and business topics from top industry leaders and participate in round table discussions with fellow business owners from all over North America.
The Advanced Residential Paver Technician Course offered specific instruction on advanced installation skills including overlays, multi-level and raised patios, outdoor fireplace and kitchen installation, pool deck construction and advanced business practices.
Adams said, “HNA is the number one forum to share best practices and enhance the products and services they offer to their customers. HNA is the show for hardscape contractors and distributors.”
Adams said a key objective is to increase awareness of segmental pavement installers as a trade profession. The show has co-located since 2010 with GIE+EXPO (the Green Industry & Equipment Expo), which draws thousands of lawn & landscape professionals and outdoor power equipment dealers. Together, the shows rank as the 9th largest tradeshow in the United States.
This year the Distributor Program, themed “Race to Recovery,” was geared towards helping dealers and distributors jumpstart their businesses through a fast-paced program featuring industry experts. Following the program, participants were invited onto the show floor for the first-ever Dealer/Distributor Day, during which exhibitors and dealers had one-on-one networking time to discuss products and sales techniques.
The 2012 platinum sponsors were Belgard Hardscapes, National Concrete Masonry Association, Pavestone Company and Pine Hall Brick. Gold sponsors were iQ Power Tools, Pathfinder Systems and Techniseal, Inc. and silver sponsors were Borgert Products and Ewing Irrigation. Other companies that sponsored features included County Materials Corp. and John Deere Co. HNA is endorsed by the Brick Industry Association and the National Concrete Masonry Association.
