Nearly 50 years practicing, Ruth Murray has demonstrated the passion and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field. Ruth’s career began in 1957, after she received her nursing degree from the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. Ruth continued on with her education, attending Lindenwood University for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing certification. In 1965 she went to the University of Washington School of Nursing to obtain her Master’s degree. As well as her degrees in nursing, Ruth acquired various other certifications including advanced practice, Doctor of Education, and psychiatric nursing. Currently, Ruth is retired, after a 47 year career in psychiatric nursing. She used to be employed by St. Louis University as a Professor of Nursing. Over the course of her career, Ruth received the honor of Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing; as well as being an active member of many other nurse associations including the National Academy of Practice Nurses and the International Society of Psychiatric Nursing. Ruth immersed herself in the field, participating in global public speaking including the areas New York, England, Florida, and Minnesota. Ruth has also contributed many publications to the field of nursing; as well as her book Health Promotion Strategies Through the LifeSpan, which has been used as an educational text book over the years.
