Chicago, IL, November 17, 2012 –(PR.com)– “America Invents Act – Part 1: Protecting Innovation in a First to File System,” a continuing legal education program presented by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 8:50 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at the ISBA Regional Office, 20 S. Clark St., Suite 900, in Chicago. The seminar will also broadcast live via webcast, from 8:50 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

In September 2011, the America Invents Act was signed into law after years of deliberations. The Act provides significant changes to patent law, not least of which is the switch from a first-to-invent to a first-to-file patent system. Program attendees will learn how the first-to-file provisions will be implemented, as well as tips for protecting the innovations of clients with this informative presentation.

The program, which qualifies for 3.0 hours based on a 60 minute MCLE (Minimum Continuing Legal Education) credit hour, is sponsored by the ISBA Intellectual Property Section.

Cost to attend on-site or via webcast is $100 for ISBA members and $230 for non-member lawyers and non-lawyers, by November 2; thereafter, prices increase $15. Payment must be made in advance by check, money order, or credit card. For more information and/or to obtain a registration form, log onto the ISBA web site at www.isba.org, or call toll free 1-800-252-8908.

The 33,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), a cable television program (“Illinois Law”), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
