Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, the world's largest timepiece event, will showcase Hong Kong and international watch and clock manufacturers to international buyers and provide a platform for visitors and exhibitors to exchange information and market intelligence. Its 31st edition will be held 5-9 September, 2012, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
(PRWEB) August 25, 2012
Hong Kong is the ideal environment for this five-day event which will host thousands of watch manufacturers and clock manufacturers from around the world. According to the latest research, Hong Kong is the world's largest importer of complete watches (in terms of value) and second largest exporter of complete watches and complete clocks (in terms of value). From January to April 2012, Hong Kong’s watch and clock exports increased by 19% to USD$2.9 billion compared with the same period in 2011. The EU, Switzerland and the US are the largest markets, together accounting for half of the total export.
Special zones
Buyers sourcing branded watches focus on high product quality, innovative product design and competitive pricing, according to HKTDC’s onsite survey last year. At the 2012 fair, the popular Brand Name Gallery (BNG) once again presents some of the leading branded watch manufacturers, as well as fine fashion labels and designer watch collections. The Gallery will gather about 110 brands, with anchor brands such as EDWIN, ELLE, FIYTA, FOCE, Lamborghini, o.d.m, Romago and Temporis showing their most original offerings.
BNG Public Day, to be held on the last day of the fair, is expected to attract many members of the public. Events in three major themes – sporty watches, elegant or luxury watches and ready-to-wear watches – will be held within the Wine Cellar zone in the Grand Hall. The special events include watch parades as well as sharing sessions on the appreciation of fine watches and fashion watches, and, finally, the lucky draw.
According to the findings of McKinsey & Company, Chinese mainland consumption of luxury goods is projected to grow 18% annually from 2010 to 2015, accounting for over 20% of the global luxury market by then. To reach the world’s large luxury market, the fair's World Brand Piazza showcases rare timepieces from some of the world's most renowned watch manufacturers. It will be continuously sponsored by Prince Jewellery & Watch.
Pageant of Eternity will also continue to feature high quality complete watch exhibitors. Buyers seeking quality complete watches will find the Pageant of Eternity the answer to their sourcing needs.
Small-Order Zone
In response to the growing market demand for suppliers of goods in small quantities, the “Small-Order Zone” will be set up this year specifically to showcase products meant for ordering in small quantities of 50-1,000 pieces. HKTDC’s data indicated that the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), Hong Kong Houseware Fair and Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair this year together succeeded in luring more than 50,000 buyers into visiting this zone and generated over 30,000 business connections. Therefore this is to be set up in the Watch & Clock Fair to provide business discussion opportunities to watch and clock manufacturers and buyers alike.
