2012 Global Ebook Award Won by San Francisco Travel Author Robert Talley

San Francisco Bay Area author Robert R. Talley has won the 2012 Global Ebook Award in the non-fiction Travel/Guidebook category for his book Staycation Destinations, Short Getaways In and Near the San Francisco Bay Area.

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) September 03, 2012

At an awards ceremony in Santa Barbara’s University Club, with actress and author Marilu Henner as guest speaker, publishing executive Dan Poynter announced the winners of the 2012 Global Ebook Awards in several categories. There were over 1,000 entries submitted from sixteen countries which were judged by 250 experts in their respective fields. Winner of the award in the Travel/Guidebook category was Robert R. Talley’s Staycation Destinations, Short Getaways In and Near the San Francisco Bay Area.

Asked what he thought contributed to his book’s success, author Robert Talley responded, “I believe the book has its own unique local travel niche. Most travel or guidebooks limit their coverage to important sites and major events. For instance, we devote some space to well-known tourist attractions such as theme parks. But most of the book is about smaller but still very popular activities such as bi-plane and balloon rides, festivals, car shows and racing, indoor sky diving as well as outdoor adventures and nature events that will appeal to different age ranges of small children, teenagers and adults.

“We also made a special effort to include functions sponsored by local charitable and civic organizations that don’t have the funds to adequately publicize their worthy causes. We believe the book is an excellent resource for local residents as well as visitors to the San Francisco Bay Area.”

He is currently working on a new book with his wife, Ruth Ramos Talley, about her paranormal experiences. The book is tentatively entitled, Body Possessed.
