Acclaimed Beverly Hills-based illusionist Ivan Amodei will summons the dead in his shocking Halloween-themed shows all throughout the month of October.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 23, 2012

Magician Harry Houdini mesmerized early 20th-century audiences with his daring and dangerous escape attempts from jails, underwater straightjackets and underground coffins. In a tribute to Houdini — who famously died on Halloween — acclaimed illusionist Ivan Amodei summons the spirits during a special series of Halloween-themed October shows. Mr. Amodei performs his show Intimate Illusions at the Beverly Wilshire hotel. More information as well as advanced tickets for these shows are available at the illusionist's website at http://www.ivanamodei.com.

During a 90-minute show in an intimate 75-seat suite, Mr. Amodei will call upon the spirits of the past in an illusion titled Sixth Sense. Calling the event "one of my most provocative illusions to date," Mr. Amodei promises that Sixth Sense "dabbles with forces unseen and unheard — the very forces of the underworld."

Acknowledging Harry Houdini as a key influence and inspiration, Mr. Amodei borrows from one of the best-known aspects of the Houdini mythology, the yearly Halloween séance. Houdini spent the last years of his life debunking spiritualists and false mediums, but as a dying wish to his wife, Bess, he instructed her to hold a séance in which she would attempt to summon him from the dead. They agreed he would deliver a secret code to her to prove the existence of the afterlife. The séance entered Houdini lore, and the tradition was passed on to other magicians. Now, the Houdini Séance has become a Halloween mainstay and cultural phenomenon around the world.

Ivan Amodei has earned a reputation as an illusionist to the stars and has entertained Hollywood luminaries including Ashton Kutcher, Jim Carrey, Steven Spielberg, and Larry David. He was voted Best Magician by People’s Choice Award a record six times, and has garnered multiple nominations for Magician of the Year from the Academy of Magical Arts and Sciences, among other accolades.

"Harry Houdini is undoubtedly one of the most famous names in magic, but first and foremost he was an escape artist," remarked Ivan Amodei in advance of his Halloween series. "While perfecting Sixth Sense, it was important to me to recreate that very real danger and tension that comes with escape while paying homage to the great master of the discipline. Those in attendance during one of my October shows will witness a technique done by the great Houdini that has not been attempted in a hundred years. I can't predict the outcome of summoning otherworldly forces, but I can predict great entertainment."

Ivan Amodei's Halloween-themed shows which include Sixth Sense, a tribute to iconic escape artist Harry Houdini, are taking place throughout the month of October. Families and couples interested in tickets or more information should visit the illusionist's website at http://www.ivanamodei.com.
