Product lets users take any smartphone or point-and-shoot camera and mount it to their head, chest or gear.
Reno, Nev. (PRWEB) October 10, 2012
With people turning to their smartphones to not only shoot video, but also edit and share the material with friends, Velocity Clip helps smartphone users take their videos to the next level by letting users create professional point-of-view footage with a “three-in-one” camera-mount system that includes attachments for the head, chest and gear.

“The Velocity Clip can be used in a variety of settings, from snowboarding to surfing to skydiving and everything in between. It’s all about going out, having fun and capturing those moments,” said Swen Duerigen, co-founder of Velocity Clip.
Since some helmet cameras cost more than $200, Velocity Clip co-founder David Kephart said he was looking for a lower-priced alternative to take with him snowboarding. He already had a smartphone and digital camera that created high-quality video, and he wanted to continue shooting footage with those.
Entrepreneurs Duerigen and Kephart partnered with a goal to create a simple, universal design that could be used interchangeably in a number of settings so people would not have to buy new mounts when they purchased a different phone or camera.
“We wanted to create something that was completely different from anything else on the market. We offer all three mounts in one package for added value, so it can be used in a variety of settings,” Kephart said. “The Velocity Clip is ideal for those with an active lifestyle who participate in the most extreme activities. But it can also be clipped to a car dashboard or the surface of a boat.”
Some of the features of the Velocity Clip include:
- A rubberized grip and stability shelf keep the smartphone or digital camera secure and free from vibration, even during a bumpy activity like mountain biking.
- The head mount includes an anti-vibration and comfort pad made from silicone to keep the straps comfortable and stable.
- Adjustable, reinforced nylon strapping used for the chest mount is made from the same material backpackers use to carry 100 pounds of supplies.
- The clip has an adjustable swivel that allows for a wide range of angles.
Velocity Clip is currently available for pre-order for $49, with delivery expected to be made in December and January. Orders can be placed at http://www.velocityclip.com/collections/frontpage/products/velocity-clip. Velocity Clip will also be sold on Kickstarter beginning Oct. 16, with a goal to raise $58,000 to produce about 1,200 units.
