New deli and ‘Aperitivo Milanese’ concept launches at city centre restaurant, VINeataly.
(PRWEB UK) 15 October 2012
It’s renowned for being one of the fashion world’s hotpots, but in Milan, great food is as important as any latest trend. And now, thanks to VINeataly at Granary Wharf, dining the Milanese way has come to Leeds.
At the restaurant, which opened in March this year, not only has Milan-born owner Mattia Boldetti incorporated an on-site delicatessen showcasing some of the finest Italian produce, he is introducing a unique concept which sees diners try this produce for free every Friday night.
“Aperitivo Milanese is our take on what has become a way of life in Milan. You finish work at the end of the week, you visit your favourite bar or trattoria, and you get to eat freshly made antipasti and other delicacies free of charge while enjoying a drink or two, explained Mattia.
“The concept is slowly starting to be adopted in London, but as far as we’re aware this is a first for Leeds.”
When sourcing ingredients for the delicatessen, Mattia visited many suppliers in Italy to bring only the highest quality, most authentically produced produce to his restaurant to enhance the dining experience. “People go to an Italian restaurant for real Italian food. You can’t get more Italian than flying many of your ingredients in direct from Italy. We can tell you where each and every one of our products was made or sourced. Maintaining our food’s integrity is paramount and is at the heart of what we do here.”
The deli also features a selection of handmade Italian classics to go, such as lasagne, pasta al forno and parmigiana. Hand carved, cured meats, Italian cheeses, olives, breads, anchovies and sundried tomatoes are just a few of the products available to take away.
Mattia added: “The launch of our delicatessen is a significant milestone for us because it means that people can enjoy an authentic dining experience in the comfort of their own home. We believe that we are the first wholly Italian deli in the city centre so lovers of Italian food now don’t have too far to go to try Italian produce at its best.”
VINeataly is also home to one of only a handful of wine dispensing and preservation systems, giving guests the chance to sample fine and often rare wines by the glass. It has an on-site wine shop and also has a range of artisan produce, including handmade pastas, pasta sauces, oils and preserved fruits.
“We want to give everyone who visits us, be it for a cocktail, a coffee, a meal or to buy something to take home, as authentic an experience as they are likely to find in the city centre. We’re sure our passion for what we do and for how we think it should be done will be evident to everyone who comes to see us.”
The delicatessen is open now. Aperitivo Milanese is held every Friday between 4-7pm.
