The Public Office at the Swedish Museum of Architecture is a development project exploring how we can create democratic, accessible structures for work where people who freelance, work from home, or study can meet and exchange experiences and thoughts. It is also an infrastructural proposition and a vision aiming at meeting the new needs created on a job-market that is constituted of a growing quantity of freelance and homework.
The Public Office is about enabling many different activities, such as individual work, group work, meetings, lectures and so forth. This demands activity-based working-spaces with solutions for creative meeting places.
Offecct participates as a partner of the Public Office in an effort to support the development and exploration of the concept of activity-based meeting-places. Offecct’s vision is to design furniture that vitalize and stimulate the exchange of ideas and support varied activities. Activity-based working-spaces are a solution for knowledge-based companies as well as individuals who freelance or in other ways work outside of the office.
The Public Office could be placed in rural areas to create stronger local communities and in cities to create hubs and give life to neighborhoods.
In cooperating with the Public Office, Offecct has contributed with furniture that support the activity-based working-place, such as the chair LITE and the foldable table LITE designed by Broberg & Ridderstråle, as well as the sofa system SMALLROOM designed by Ineke Hans. The collaboration between the Public Office and Offecct has also resulted in an exchange of ideas, where Offecct has contributed with its experiences and visions about the future working- and meeting-places.
Dilettant, in charge of the Public Office in cooperation with the Swedish Museum of Architecture, the EU-project Special Issue and Fabel Kommunikation AB, are happy for the collaboration with Offecct.
- It is fantastic that Offecct chose to support the Public Office, says Johan Thelander, CEO, Dilettant.
- Offecct’s CEO Kurt Tingdal’s thoughts about the project have been as valuable as the contribution of the furniture, concludes Johan Thelander.
– The Public Office at the Swedish Museum of Architecture is an exciting project completely in line with our constant work in developing the future working- and meeting-spaces, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.
On Tuesday October 30th the exhibition at the Swedish Museum of Architecture is inaugurated with lectures, presentations and mingle. More information is available at http://www.arkitekturmuseet.se.
