BYRON BAY, NSW, AUSTRALIA, August 6, 2012 /Stanford Who’s Who [1]/ — Serving as a leader in the natural birthing and fitness fields in the New South Wales region of Australia, Maha Al Musa [2] has enjoyed a successful career filled with several significant accomplishments, leading to her inclusion in the exclusive network of premier professionals with Stanford Who’s Who. Throughout her brilliant professional career, Maha has routinely demonstrated the passion, vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be mentioned among the elite. A pioneer in her field, Maha is the Founder and Principal of Bellydance for Birth, which is a safe and effective dance expression that supports women throughout pregnancy and labor, providing a natural birthing technique that encourages active birth at its most feminine. The technique is chronicled in Maha’s award winning book, Dance of the Womb: The Essential Guide to Belly Dance for Pregnancy and Birth, which is a detailed instruction manual for exercise in pregnancy as well as a beautifully crafted story of Maha’s life interwoven with the details of each belly dance movement. The book is also available in DVD format and features 2 hours of bellydancebirth exercise as well as a special bonus Maha’s home waterbirth film at 46 years of age. In 1996, while pregnant with her first child, Maha reconnected with her cultural roots when she began facilitating Bellydancebirth® classes in Byron Bay, Australia after being introduced to the dance by a local midwife. Soon after, she began working as a doula with local home birth midwives and encouraged women to embrace their pregnancy journey with strength, empowerment, and courage. Maha offers classes through which she presents Bellydancebirth® as a means for women to explore these most primal movements, weaving together the ‘old world’ with the ‘new world’ through the belly dance, creating a joyful and uplifting experience for all mothers to be. Evidencing the impact that Dance of the Womb has had, Maha was the recipient of a Gold Award from the Jenkins Publishing Group at the Living Now Independent Book Publishers Awards in 2009. In 2012, Maha was also the recipient of the One World Birth Hero Award in the United Kingdom. She has also participated in several special events over the years, including the 2008 Breastfeeding and Beyond Conference which took place in Brisbane and the 2007 Homebirth Conference in Sydney. Maha is now teaching BellydanceBirth internationally to birth professionals and is making a positive impact on birth practices worldwide bringing together Eastern wisdom with Western understanding. Her workshop has been accepted by the Australian College Of Midwives to be accredited 7 MIDPLUS points for midwives who attend. She is also currently facilitating a one day intensive workshop for birth carers in The Fundamentals Of Bellydance For Birth encompassing the physical, cultural, therapeutic and spiritual elements of bellydancebirth. Maha will be travelling internationally with this workshop, in New Zealand on March 2012, Tokyo on September 2012, and California, US on November 2012.
