TPG The Project Group stands out as one of the first companies to deliver products to the Microsoft Office App Store with three useful apps for project managers. TPG The Project Group, the international full-service provider for enterprise-wide project management, announced three new products at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas, USA (12-15 November). Timed to coincide with the launch of Microsoft Project 2013, the three products can be used with Project Server 2013 and Project Online. They include TPG MTA Chart for a quick overview of how milestones are evolving over time; TPG Risk Chart to help project managers visualize risk situations within a project; and TPG WBS Chart for a graphical view of work breakdown structures. Interested users can download the three apps from the Microsoft Office App Store (http://officepreview.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps-for-sharepoint-FX102804987.aspx) and integrate them into their local or online project environments.

The Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2012 opened its doors from November 12 to 15 in Las Vegas, USA. Delegates were able to find out more about Microsoft’s collaboration platform during the four days of the event.
As a Microsoft Gold Partner, TPG The Project Group was participating in the conference and was launching its first three apps there. These products are already available for the new versions of Microsoft Project and SharePoint 2013.
TPG MTA Chart is a milestone trend analysis tool that provides a clear overview of how projects are evolving over time. If delays are likely to cause deadline bottlenecks, the chart helps project managers to detect them in good time and intervene quickly to resolve the issue. TPG MTA Chart also improves project participants’ awareness of milestones and deadlines.
TPG Risk Chart gives project managers an at-a-glance view of risk situations within a project. A matrix shows the probability of the relevant risk arising and its effect. The app categorizes active risks from SharePoint lists and displays them using traffic light colors.
The TPG WBS Chart provides a graphical display of work breakdown structures in Microsoft Project. With a click of the mouse, users can view the entire plan, zoom in on details; display or hide parts of the structure; and add colors to highlight whether the status of a work package is in the green area or becoming critical. (This app is still in the Microsoft approval process for the Office App store).
The TPG web apps have been designed to work with both of the new versions of Microsoft Project. Users can access the Office App Store and download the tools they require to their company’s local Project environment or to their cloud-based Project Online environment.
TPG is already planning to extend the functionality of its apps. In addition, the company will have adapted its entire product portfolio to Project 2013 by the time Microsoft announces global availability of the new version.
“The App Store is a major milestone and gives us a completely new opportunity to develop additional functions for Microsoft Office, SharePoint und Project,” comments Johann Strasser, Managing Director and Partner at TPG.
